Dig Deeper

I noticed one thing when I jumped into the health and fitness industry: everything is about the body image. All of the health and fitness magazines that you see boast photoshopped men and women with cut abs and defined muscles. Headlines promote new fad diets or exercises that promise to help you drop 10lbs in a week or give you a bikini body in time for the summer. That’s great and all, but have you noticed that no one promotes working out or eating healthier just because it’s better for you? When someone tries to sell you a personal training session, gym membership, meal prep subscription, or weight loss book, they always make sure to tell you what your body will look like, but they rarely emphasize that eating better and exercising is just plain good for you. We live in a culture that promotes tiny waists or defined abs. It’s all about body image.

Eating Out and Staying on Track

Eating out can be a major cause for anxiety when on a fitness or nutrition regimen, especially when you’re just starting out. You feel like you’re in control of what you put in your body when you can buy and prepare the food yourself, but the moment someone wants to go out to eat you become a little nervous because you just don’t know how you’re going to be able to stay on track and eat out at the same time. You feel like you can’t indulge or enjoy a night out or you’ll ruin your progress, right? Wrong! What if I told you that you can make eating out work for your goals? What if I told you that you could still enjoy some pizza every week (like this lovely pizza from my date with my handsome man last week)? So let’s chat about it. Food shouldn’t make you nervous. A night out shouldn’t cause you to worry about ruining your hard work. You can eat out and still stay on track.

The Ketogenic Diet

I think I speak for everyone when I say we all know someone eating Whole30 or practicing intermittent fasting. We see the Kardashians rave about the ketogenic diet on TV and read about JLo’s recent bout with her no-carb diet that got her body ready for her movie role in just 10 days. They’re all over the internet and every social media post ever! I took the time to read up on today’s most popular diet, and I want to break it down into a “Diets for Dummies” format. So let’s take a look.

How to Measure Your Progress

Ever wonder how on earth to track your progress? Wonder why your pants are looser, but the scale hasn’t budged a bit and you don’t know if you’re succeeding or not? The scale has way less value than we give it. It can go up 5lbs just because you’re bloating from those french fries you had last night. What really tells of your progress is being able to feel your pants fit differently and see the measurements on your body actually change. That’s the real stuff!

What's Supp?

“Greens: Contains 3+ servings of fruits, veggies, and greens. It helps to alkalize your stomach (this means balancing your body’s pH). It can help digestion, bloating, and more. I add a scoop of this to a cup of water every morning. If you can’t handle the grassy taste, you can add a squirt of Mio or another water flavoring brand. I always order it from Amazon, as it’s normally more pricey at health food stores. They have plenty of different flavors such as cocoa, berry, citrus, and more. The original, extra large kind (with 60 servings) is currently super discounted with Amazon Prime! Click here to save on it!

Reason for the Season

“So often we find ourselves caught up in the middle of the things we do on a regular basis and forget why we’re even doing it in the first place. We reach a point where, all of a sudden, we have no idea how we got here and question whether or not we want to keep going. It’s almost like a mid-life crisis but with our hobbies, jobs, passions, relationships, etc. I’m pretty sure this happens all-too often in everyone’s health + fitness journeys. There’s people that have been consistent in eating healthy and training hard only to find themselves during the holidays wondering if it’s still worth it”…
