About Me

Hi. I’m Kenzie.

I wasn’t raised on healthy habits. I grew up on fried foods and fast food. After gaining a lot of weight in college, I decided I needed to make a change. Everything on the internet said that the only way to lose weight was to restrict calories and train twice a day for hours at a time. I did this and lost the pounds, but I was lethargic, moody, and couldn’t fully enjoy life. After a long dieting stint, I developed an eating disorder and found myself in an endless restrict and binge cycle. I quickly gained all of the weight back and realized that eating “healthy” and working out weren't worth it if these were the habits they created. It was then that I began the journey of restoring my relationship with food, removing the “bad” labels I placed on certain foods I didn’t allow myself to eat in the name of weight loss and allowed myself to enjoy food again. It took almost a year, but I found myself eating healthy while still enjoying fries and drinks with friends when I wanted.

Around this time, I found CrossFit and started down the path to compete in the sport. I shifted from my years of body building and dove headfirst into cross training. I loved the well-rounded nature of CrossFit as it’s combination of strength, endurance, cardio, flexibility, and gymnastics.

As I spent hours at the gym preparing to compete, I constantly found myself injured and achy. I decided that this was not a sustainable way to train for the rest of my life and developed my own hybrid program where I combined bodybuilding, functional strength, high-intensity and endurance cardio, and corrective exercise: an exercise regimen I can sustain in my 20’s and 70’s, in my singleness and as a mother, in busy seasons and restful ones. I was eventually able to use my own nutrition and fitness education and trial and error to develop habits that allow me to enjoy life while staying healthy and looking fit too!

I began my coaching career in 2018 after losing 30lbs and friends quickly began to request my exercise and nutrition advice in an effort to help them lose weight. It was then that I realized that I loved helping people develop healthy lifestyles and what you now know as KenzieFitCo was born. I earned my Certified Personal Trainer certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and my Certified Nutrition Coach certification through the American Council on Exercise. I have trained an array of clients: young and old, athlete and stay-at-home parent, men and women, both in-person and online.

Some fun things about myself are that I have a crazy 1 year old, yellow Labrador Retriever named Kenickie (a tribute to my favorite movie, Grease) that keeps me on my toes. I graduated from college in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a degree in Music Production. Some of my greatest passions and current hobbies include following Jesus, traveling, reading a good book in the sun, binge-watching The Vampire Diaries or Nashville, early mornings with an iced oat milk latte, and leading worship at my church. I currently live in Denver, CO.

I share more about myself, Kenickie, recipes, workouts, and how to create a healthy lifestyle under my resources tab! Make sure you subscribe and follow me on socials @kenziefitco so we can stay in touch! In the meantime, feel free to reach out via DM or email. I'd love to connect and get to know you too.
